I was greatly moved by the discussion on how people actions can affect other people while watching this video. this is why: I have been taking care of my mom while she was in nursing home as often as i could, taking her out for car ride and walks initially when she was healthy, then started using a wheel chair when she could not walk any more, and always felt shy about it when people would stare at us getting out of the car, pushing the wheel chair thru some difficult ‘manoeuvers’, or just for being around healthy people in public places, and maybe spoiling their afternoon outing by reminding them of our own fragility. Anyway I always thought i was selfish by showing around my ageing mom. The next day after my mom’s funeral, I finally understood the meaning of the look on the people face staring at us: i saw a lady whisking away her mom from the hairdresser to the car in the parking lot nearby, and I just broke down in tears: i felt some much compassion and love for that person taking care of her mom, and seeing both of them smiling and engage in small talk.. this is what i was seeing on other people’s face for all those years, and never realizing it.
Watching this video reminding me of that incident, how ‘seffishly’ taking care of others can move and empower so many people around you.
Watching how passionately you talk about the topics that touches you is also very empowering.
Please keep up your good work, you are touching the sole of so many people around you. Thank you for posting your video, and bringing back memories of my mom on this day.
Dear Joe, thank you so much for sharing this beautiful insight and experience of yours! It is such a touching anecdote. Your comment alone is sure to move a lot of people. Thank you again!
